Galen Rupp Is Returning To The Track At The Portland Track Festival
Galen Rupp is running his first race since the Boston Marathon and his first track race since the Rio Olympics at the Portland Track Festival on Saturday, event organizers announced last night. You can watch the PTF 10K live on FloTrack on Saturday, June 10, at 9:00 PM Pacific time.

Rupp is the American record holder in the 10K, and began transitioning away from the track in 2016. His first three marathons were about as successful as they could have been: he won the Olympic Trials, took bronze at the Olympics, and finished second in the Boston Marathon in April. The 31-year-old Rupp raced the 10K and 5K at the Olympic Trials, qualifying for the Olympics in the 10K. In Rio, he finished fifth in 27:08--just eight days before taking third in the marathon. That was Rupp's most recent track race.

He already has qualifying standards for the world and U.S. championships from that 27:08. Rupp also raced the Portland Track Festival last year, winning the 5K in 13:20. That race was also his outdoor season debut.
