Seven-time U.S. 800m champion Alysia Montaño created one of the most viral moments of the 2017 USATF Outdoor Championships by completing the preliminary round of the 800m while five months pregnant.

The 31-year-old ran 2:21.4 for seventh place in heat 1; her time ranks 30th overall and she will not advance to the semi-final. Montaño has now twice competed at a USATF Outdoor Championships while pregnant. In 2014, she ran 2:32.13 in the prelims while eight months pregnant; a year later, she returned to the USATF 800m finals and won gold.

Montaño said after the race that Gal Gadot filmed hit summer flick "Wonder Woman" while five months pregnant, and she wanted to prove she could likewise continue in her profession without pregnancy getting in the way.

The New York Athletic Club athlete is one of the United States' best-ever 800m talents. Her PB of 1:57.34 makes her the fifth-fastest American ever. Her six outdoor 800m titles ties Madeline Manning for the most USATF crowns in championship history. She was fourth at the 2012 Olympic Games and earned bronze at the IAAF World Championships in both 2011 and 2013.

She posted this video on her Twitter account, where her bio opens with "That pregnant runner," the night before her 800m race:
