After experiencing discomfort during a practice session on Friday, Yohan Blake has confirmed he will not contest the 100m tomorrow at the IAAF Diamond League meet in Rabat, Morocco.
"It is not an injury. I felt some discomfort in the groin area," Blake told Reuters. "With three weeks to go to the world championships, I am being cautious."
Blake was slated to face off against Thando Roto (South Africa), Ben Youssef Meite (Ivory Coast) and Nethaneel Mitchell-Blake (Great Britain), who have all recorded sub-10 performances this year. Rabat would've been Blake's first meet since Jamaica's National Senior Championships on June 25, where he won both the 100m and 200m titles in 9.90 and 19.97 seconds, respectively. He currently ranks second in the world behind Christian Coleman in the 100m.
On Tuesday, the two-time Olympic gold medalist will receive a medical evaluation by Dr. Hans-Wilhelm Muller Wolphart in Munich.
