Robby Andrews Drops Out Of 1500m Semi-Final At Worlds
"My calf seized on me," the 26-year-old said to Lewis Johnson after the race. "I felt like I was running well, (but) sometimes your body doesn't cooperate. I gave it everything I had. It was gonna tear if I was gonna run anymore. My calves are generally pretty tight, I usually have it well under control, I don't know what happened today. It's been a great year. I would have loved to shown what I have in the final."
Post-race statement from Andrews' coach Jason Vigilante via Let's Run:
In the following heat, fellow American Johnny Gregorek placed seventh overall and ran fast enough to qualify for the final based on time.
Yesterday, reigning Olympic champion Matthew Centrowitz placed last in his preliminary round in what was one of the more shocking moments of these championships.
