Analysis:

After failing to qualify for the NCAA championships as a team last fall, the West Virginia Mountaineers return with a formidable squad that includes some senior power and a star freshman in Haley Jackson.

Between All-American leader Jillian Forsey, who was 14th at the NCAA championships in 2014, Big 12 conference finalist Maggie Drazba, NCAA steeplechase qualifier Amy Cashin, and Foot Locker finalist Haley Jackson, the top four scorers have the potential to do some damage in Louisville. Forsey returns with a chip on her shoulder after falling at the NCAA championships last November. Prior to NCAAs, Forsey had finished second at both the Big 12 and NCAA regional championship.

The battle for the fifth spot could be interesting as well with consistent scorers Olivia Hill and Candace Jones duking it out with incoming athletes Marianne Abdulah and Jackson. Jackson in particular enters the NCAA scene with an impressive resume, including an eighth-place finish at the Foot Locker Championships and a 10:14 PB in the 3200m.

If the team performs to its ability, the Mountaineers should easily qualify and return to the NCAA Championships.
