MEET PREVIEW: $1.6 Million+ Is Up For Grabs In Farah's Last Hurrah At The Zurich DL
FULL RESULTS
Not a Diamond League race, but the women's hurdles was dominated by Zuzana Hejnova who ran a season's best of 54.13. Sara Petersen followed for second in a season's best of 54.25.
Men's 1500m
The race is underway and pacers are out to help the field race for the Diamond League final prize of $50,000. The first 400m split is 54 seconds. Cheruiyot is leading the pack behind the pace-setters as the pacer goes out in 1:51! Pretty quick for the 800m split. Cheruiyot continues to lead the group with one lap to go!
Cheruiyot is the one with the kick! He holds off the entire field with a dominating last 100-meter sprint! He'll claim the Diamond League prize with a winning time of 3:33.93. He is followed by Silas Kiplagat and Elijah Motonei Manangoi. After earning silver to Manangoi at the IAAF World Championships in London, the performance definitely makes a statement.
Women's 200m
An amazing close for Shaunae Miller-Uibo!! A personal best of 21.88 to win a completely stacked women's 200m! She just beat Olympic champion Elaine Thompson and world champion Dafne Schippers!
The 400m Olympic champion from the Bahamas just tracked them down on that last 100-meter straightaway! What a race for Miller-Uibo!
Women's Steeplechase
The steeplechase is underway with world champion Emma Coburn highlighting the field. We have two pace-setters here who are scheduled to take the field out in 3:00 for the first 1K.
Tuigong has successfully taken the field out in 3:01 for the first kilometer. Coburn is racing in the middle of the pack currently while Jebet, Chepkoech and Jeruto are running behind the pace-setters.
At 2K, Jebet has taken over as the leader and rolls through the split in 5:55.
A killer pace is underway in the top pack in a showdown between Chepkoech and Jebet up front! One lap to go and it's down to these top two with a huge lead on the rest of the field!
WOW! Ruth Jebet throws down an 8:55 winning time for the victory over Chepkoech! Just a couple seconds off of her own world record! It's the second-fastest time in history behind her own world record! Beatrice Chepkoech holds on to run a personal best of 8:59, and Norah Jeruto follows for third in 9:05.
Coburn closes for fourth overall, kicking down bronze medalist Hyvin Kiyeng in the process.
Men's 400m Hurdles
After a devastating disqualification at the IAAF World Championships, Kyron McMaster threw down to beat world champion Karsten Warholm! McMaster takes the win in 48.07!
Women's 800m
Women's 800m is going down now, and the pacer is scheduled to take them out in 56 seconds!
Melissa Bishop leads the field through 400m in 56.5! Right on pace for that top group, which includes Francine Niyonsaba and Charlene Lipsey. On the backstretch, Caster Semenya is attacking!
Semenya cannot be touched on that homestretch. She takes the win in a dominant 1:55.84, just a bit slower than her performance to win the IAAF World Championships. Olympic silver medalist Niyonsaba follows for second and Margaret Wambui closes for third.
Men's 100m
CJ Ujah just won the men's 100m over world champion Justin Gatlin, who finished fourth overall behind Ujah, Ben Youssef Meite and Ronnie Baker! Ujah's winning time of 9.97 is a season's best and quite possibly the greatest upset performance of his season.
Gatlin closed in 10.04, well off the 9.92 it took to beat Usain Bolt at the IAAF World Championships.
Men's 5K
The 5K is underway, which will mark 10-time global champion Mo Farah's final race on the track before he focuses on the roads.
Collins Cheboi just took the field out in 2:35 for the first kilometer, just as he was asked to do. So behind him, Paul Chelimo, Mo Ahmed, Ben True, and Yomif Kejelcha are patiently running the pace. Farah is currently running in eighth-place, perfectly positioned in the middle of the pack. This performance follows a victory over 3K at the Birmingham Diamond League meeting on Sunday.
Kejelcha is starting to move up a bit as the pack goes through the 2K mark in 5:13. The pacer, Cornelius Kangogo is supposed to bring them through 3K in 7:45.
Ahmed is now pulling away slightly ahead of the pack as he commits to following the pacer.
Through 3K in 7:51, a bit slower than expected, but Ahmed is leading the charge here now that the pacer has stepped off.
Farah has moved up as the top group is now bunching up. The top pack includes Ahmed, Farah, Kejelcha, Muktar Edris, True and Chelimo. At 4K, Farah takes the lead over Ahmed and Kejelcha follows.
One lap to go and the race is on! Can Farah win his final race on the track?!
He does it!! In nail-biter final 100-meter stretch, Farah wins his final race on the track with a dive at the line! Fights til the very last moment to win the 5K in 13:06.05, over Chelimo, Edris, and Kejelcha!

A close victory for world champion Sally Pearson who wins by a hair over Sharika Nelvis! Pearson's performance continues to put an exclamation point on an impressive comeback from several injuries over the years following her 2012 Olympic Games victory. The Australian had hamstring issues and shattered her wrist last year, but was able to return and win the world title in London.
Isaac Makwala takes the victory in the 400m in 43.95, but missed the opportunity to compete against Steven Gardiner after he stumbled right out of the blocks and fell over in his lane! But Makwala wins over Gil Roberts in a dominating performance.
A massive anchor leg by Elaine Thompson to get the victory for Jamaica! She leads the Jamaicans to victory in 41.85 over Great Britain who closes in 41.86 for second. Williams, Levy, Facey, and Thompson will get the final win tonight to close out the action in Zurich.
After a shaky final hand-off, the United States team claimed fifth overall in 43.68.
