Follow our 2017 FloXC Countdown, where FloTrack ranks the top 25 cross country teams and individuals in the NCAA this season which will be LIVE on FloTrack. The No. 15 men's spot goes to Colorado State, and here's why:
SR Jerrell Mock (13:44 5K; 28:11 10K; 19th at '15 NCAA XC; 54th at '16 NCAA XC)
SR Grant Fischer (13:46 5K; 28:45 10K; 79th at '16 NCAA XC)
JR Cole Rockhold (3:59 Mile; 7:59 3K; 13:52 5K; 147th at '16 NCAA XC)
JR Eric Hamer (30:00 10K; 185th at '16 NCAA XC)
JR Carson Hume (14:17 5K; 140th at '16 NCAA XC)
Nick Falk vai Marlton, NJ (9:15 3200)
Colorado State looks to improve on its 17th-place finish last year. The Rams enter the season a bit under the radar with one of the most underrated 1-2-3 punches in the nation. Senior Jerrell Mock, who finished a disappointing 54th last year, will be happy to return to Louisville, the site of his 19th-place finish in 2015. Mock has steadily improved over his first three years at CSU, sporting track personal bests of 13:44 for 5K and 28:11 for 10K.
Behind Mock are two men who should be strong All-American contenders this year. Senior Grant Fischer improved his track times this spring to 13:46 for 5K and 28:45 for 10K. Junior Cole Rockhold also improved this year to clock a sub-four mile, sub-eight 3K and sub-14 5K.
Beyond CSU's top three, the team will look to juniors Eric Hamer and Carson Hume to step up. If these two men have top-100 finishes in NCAAs, the Rams could be looking at a top-10 finish.
