Corey Bellemore Breaks Beer Mile World Record Again

Canadian Corey Bellemore broke his own world record in the beer mile by one second on Saturday night, lowering the four laps, four beers standard from 4:34.35 to 4:33.6. The race was held during halftime at a professional soccer match in California between the San Francisco Deltas and Jacksonville Armada.

Bellemore distanced the accomplished field by more than 30 seconds. Garrett Cullen, who owns a 4:54.5 PB, took runner-up honors in 5:07.5. Corey Gallagher, a former world record holder with a best of 4:48.62 and one of only six men to break 4:50, was third in 5:14.9. Brandon Shirk, the fifth-fastest beer miler of all-time with a 4:47.72 PB, was disqualified for puking.

Track and field journalist Cathal Dennehy set the Irish national record with his fourth-place run in 5:25.2.
