Sha’Carri Richardson made her presence felt early at the 2023 USATF Outdoor Championships. Richardson flew out of the blocks on the way to a personal best, and world-leading, time of 10.71 seconds in the opening round of the women’s 100m at Hayward Field. The time also equaled the meet record.

Richardson’s previous best was 10.72

The times were fast across the board. Brittany Brown equaled her personal best in second with a time of 10.96. Oregon high school Mia Brahe-Pedersen also ran a personal best of 11.05 to take third.

Marie-Josee Ta Lou of the Ivory Coast previously held the world lead at 10.75. Richardson ran a wind-legal 10.76 in Doha, in addition to a wind-aided 10.57. She has not lost a 100m race this season.
