The 100m finals closed out the second day of the USA Track and Field Championships in style as Sha'Carri Richardson and Cravont Charleston won the men’s and women’s final in one of the marque events of the meet. 

Charleston stunned the crowd at Hayward Field in Eugene when he narrowly beat Christian Coleman, the 2019 World Champion, and Noah Lyles, one of the favorites to win the race. Charleston ran the 100m in 9.95 seconds to win the men’s side. Coleman finished at 9.96. 

On the women's side, Richardson ran the fastest time in the world on Thursday in the first round and followed that with a 10.75 seconds in the semifinals. That time was eclipsed on Friday by Shericka Jackson of Jamaica at the Jamaican Championships. She recorded  the time in 10.65 seconds. 

Richardson ran the 100m final at Eugene in 10.82 seconds.

Anna Hall defended her heptathlon title on Friday, winning the event for the second year in a row. Meanwhile Harrison Williams won the decathlon. 

Aside from the those events, national champions were crowned in the women’s high jump and men’s triple jump on Day 2. 

The USA Out Track and Field Championship returned to Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon for the third year in a row and athletes flocked to the pacific northwest in hopes of winning a championship and qualifying for Team USA and for the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary in August.
