EUGENE -- Marileidy Paulino of the Dominican Republic capped her season of dominance with an easy victory in the women's 400m at the Diamond League Prefontaine Classic at Hayward Field.

Paulino, the world champion, was hardly threatened in the race and cruised down the home stretch to cross first in 49.58.

The real race was for second place behind Paulino where Natalia Kaczmarek of Poland edged Liege Claver of the Netherlands, 50.38 to 50.47, to complete the podium. Candice McLeod of Jamaica finished fourth in 50.76.

American Lynna Irby-Jackson faded to seventh in 51.60.
