The Georgetown women highlight BIG East Conference weekend as the nationally-ranked No. 3 Hoyas will look to capture the conference crown at the Wayne Dannehl Course in Kenosha, Wisconsin on Saturday.

Last year's champion, Jane Buckley of Providence, was only a freshman in 2022, but she has yet to open her season -- though she was on the roster for the team's trip to the Virginia Invitational in September -- and may not feature.

That spells good news for the Hoyas, the returning conference champions who enter as the odds-on favorites to win the team title. They have a race contender of their own: Junior Chloe Scrimgeour.

Scrimgeour led the squad at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational on Oct. 13 with a seventh-place finish in 19:59.2, while the Hoyas put in their next four over the top 74 places to hold off the likes of Stanford, Florida and Notre Dame.

Will Providence have a chance?

It may depend on lineups. Georgetown held off Providence last year by 11 points, but with Buckley on the course, the Friars' odds improve dramatically -- the Providence women, by the way, were 24th at Nuttycombe.

Of course, the women's 6K might come down to the two best teams, but other programs in the mix include Connecticut, Villanova and Butler.

Georgetown is the only women's team currently on the USTFCCCA national rankings.

On the men's side, three ranked teams will square off: No. 10 Villanova, No. 29 Georgetown and No. 30 Butler.

All three programs reached NCAAs last year -- though 'Nova was the highest finisher at 19th -- and all three should be in the hunt on the 8K course here.

Villanova, however, may be the conference bet after its eighth-place finish at Nuttycombe.

Liam Murphy, last year's third-place finisher at Conference, led the men's team with a 21st-place finish at Nuttycombe, while the team's total average was 24:13 for the 8K course.

That performance was impressive, considering the Wildcats took down possible top 10 NCAA Championship contenders like North Carolina, Notre Dame and Princeton.

Georgetown and Butler, meanwhile, were a little farther down the totem pole in 23rd and 24th, while the Providence men were 34th out of 36 teams.

Villanova is the returning men's team champion.
