THE ROLE:

FloSports is seeking a Sr. Manager, Content, to lead editorial strategy and a team of content creators that support our Track vertical, which includes the FloTrack and MileSplit brands. Candidates need editorial management experience for web and social media and the ability to think creatively and analytically to develop content that engages fans, promotes our live events, tells compelling stories, and enhances the brand.

A Sr. Manager leads by leveraging their knowledge of the broader sports media landscape and deep understanding of track and field, cross country, and other forms of competitive running to analyze data, glean takeaways, and channel those insights into content strategies that support our business goals.

To execute those strategies, the Sr. Manager works with a team of subject matter experts who create content and execute coverage tactics that grow and engage our audiences and fuel our KPIs. The role requires someone who knows how to manage creative employees and allocate resources—budget, headcount, time, internal/external assets, etc.—to maximize impact.

Sr. Managers also serve as stewards of the FloSports brand and reinforce best practices for content development and publication.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage a team of content creators that develops great digital content, both written and video, from the idea phase to publishing.
  • Track content analytics to monitor engagement and deliver insights to your team that influence creation and curation strategies.
  • Allocate budget, headcount, time, internal/external assets, etc. in a way that maximizes impact and supports FloSports company goals.
  • Lead your team in meetings to come up with content plans that engage fans, market live events, tell compelling stories, and enhance the brand.
  • Manage the creation of impactful and high-quality social media and web content, both written and video, from the idea phase to publishing.
  • Own the development of platform-specific content that resonates with the target audience and maximizes engagement—and reinforce those best practices within the team.
  • Champion business initiatives and rally your teams around them with thorough plans for success.
  • Manage relationships with key internal and external stakeholders across departments—including digital marketing, rights acquisition, product, sales, partner success, etc.—to enhance alignment around business goals.
  • Seek, utilize and manage the best staff and freelancers you can find and guide them to create killer content.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • You are an authority on track and field and competitive running, and you’re obsessive about staying on top of the latest developments.
  • Experience in a similar role managing creative/editorial employees—preferably, within the sports media space.
  • Experience with content analytics and demonstrated ability to apply takeaways that inform strategy.
  • Experience creating engaging content for social media and a working knowledge of monetization for these channels. Understanding when and how to leverage our live offering (distributing streams to social, identifying cross-posting opportunities, etc.) and replay library (highlight packages, featured moments, throwback videos, etc.) will be a key function of this role.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated and adaptable to change.
  • You're a fantastic editor, and know AP Style in and out. Grammar mistakes drive you crazy.
  • Proficient with Content Management Systems (CMS), core and emergent social media platforms, and web/OTT content best practices.
  • You know what compelling video content looks like and how to manage your team to deliver it.
  • You're organized. You know how to prioritize your time. You manage multiple projects with ease.
  • You're creative and analytical. You enjoy coming up with unique takes on stories and refuse to do something that has been done before. You thrive on taking an idea and making it a reality.
  • You work well with senior management, but you can also work independently. You take leadership and ownership of your team.
