The Week Ahead
The week ahead will be action packed with six major events the NCAA Division I, II, & III Indoor Track & Field Championships, USA 8k Championships, National Scholastic Indoor Track & Field Championships and Nike Indoor Nationals. Basically if you' re a fan of running there will be something this weekend for you. For those that are ready for the collegiate outdoor season to begin hold your horses, because this weekend will officially wrap-up the indoor season. On the Division I side it truly will be an exciting event to watch with both the men's and women's sides being a close race. Expect the men's side to be a close battle between Florida State and Tennessee and then on the women's side LSU and Arizona State. Check out the website trackshark.com for an extensive review of the Division I Indoor Championships. Also if you want to find out the Division II Indoor Championships fellow writer Cara Hawkins has a great article up detailing this weekends action in Division II. Yes, Division III needs the coverage too as they will be competing at Ohio Northern University on March 14-15. The Championships on both the men's and women's side look to be close with Wisconsin-La Crosse leading on both sides. Although, I personally have seen North Central's mens team compete and they will be tough. It seems that every weekend there is a USA Championship going on and this week won't be any different. The USA 8k Championships will be held once again in Central Park on March 15 the athletes will run the race in hopes of getting a piece of the total prize-money purse of $70,000. I along with so many others I am sure can't wait for Alan Webb's return. However, he will have a test this weekend because once again the field is loaded with types like Dathan Ritzenhein, Torres's brothers, and Jason Hartmann. And who right now in the right mind would bet against Dathan Ritzenhein? The women's race will also be hotly contested as Shalane Flanagan will look to keep her dominating form up against Carmen Douma-Hussar, Carrie Tollefson, and Katie McGregor.(letsrun.com) Make sure to check out the videos up with interviews of Alan Webb, Torres's Brothers, and etc. leading up to the 8k Championships. What a decision it has to be to decide on which National event to go to whether it is the National Scholastic Indoor Track & Field Championships or the Nike Indoor Nationals. Whatever the athletes decide both will be packed with talented athletes. DyeStat News Editor SteveU has done a great job of giving us 13 reasons on why to look into both the National Scholastic Indoor Track & Field Championships and Nike Indoor Nationals. So make sure to check that out at dyestat.com. Feel free to give your predictions about this weekends action and who you think will rise above the other competition!!! Good luck to all the teams/individuals competing this weekend be safe and run fast! Always make sure to check out the News and Results on the Flotrack Website for any extra information!
