2012 Olympic silver medalist Nijel Amos will reportedly not race the 800-meter run at the 2013 Prefontaine Classic this weekend. The race was slated to feature all the 800-meter finalists from London before Amos withdrew due to an injury. He is no longer listed on the start list for Saturday.

His official Facebook page noted a muscle strain on April 22nd that did not allow him to finish a race. He specified a quad injury in his interview with RunAfricaDotCom. His training only started back up three weeks ago.

Amos has yet to run an 800-meter race in 2013. On March 19, he opened his season winning the 400-meter dash in 45.66 second at the SA Yellow Pages Meet in Potchefstroom, South Africa. At the time it was the world leading time, but has since fallen to the 34th best.

The 19-year-old is coached by former Nebraska Husker Jean Verster in Potchefstroom.
