Farah to race Gebrselassie and Bekele in Half Marathon

Mo Farah will take on Haile Gebrselassie and Kenenisa Bekele, two of the world’s best distance runners, in the Great North Run half marathon. All three of these competitors are multiple Olympic Gold medalists and have numerous records to their names.

Event founder Brendan Foster told the BBC, “It has the makings of the greatest head to head in half-marathon history.”

Farah recently broke Steve Cram’s 1,500 meter British record and the double gold medalist at London (5,000m and 10,000m) also owns the half-marathon British record. What event can’t this British star do?

He will step up to the marathon distance at the 2014 London Marathon, where he plans to not only break another British record, but to win.
