Unionville shows their grit and FM is firing on all cylinders

The Saucony Elite 50 refers to the top-50 teams in the country (25 boys and 25 girls).

Well, another great weekend of State Championship action is in the books.

We'll start the state meet action off in Pennsylvania, where US#2 Unionville (PA) was missing their third runner due to illness, but showed steely resolve as they overcame US#30 Pennsbury 51 to 57 to take the state title. The US#5 Wayzata (MN) girls were also dominant, winning their MN state meet by a mile. US#17 Green Hope (NC) also won a state title in North Carolina.  At the Michigan (Lower Peninsula) state champs there was a change-up in the order as US#15 Northville rolled over everyone and US#23 Saline finished 2nd with a close average to Northville.  Previously ranked Seaholm finished 4th, losing by one point to 3rd place Hudsonville.

In state qualifying action, there weren't many surprises as the favorites sailed on through. US#1 Fayetteville-Manlius (NY) looks like they are firing on all cylinders and put together a rather impressive display as they move on to states. Their performance was enough to vault them back to the #1 slot. Fay-Man is getting stronger each week and no doubt they will be ready to roll when all the chips are on the table.

US#4 Carmel (IN) had a tough sectional battle, but prevailed over US#21 Hamilton Southeastern as both teams move on to states. US#9 Blacksburg (VA) rolled through their regional championhips race with just 24 points as they advance to states.

At the Illinois sectionals, US#12 Glenbard West surprised US#15 New Trier as both move on to states. US#10 Naperville North and US#13 Palatine also rolled easily through their sectional races as well. US#16 Assumption (KY) dominated their regional race in Kentucky with 29 points and earn the opportunity to win a state title.  

Lastly, US#6 Simi Valley (CA) ran very well for a county championship title as they gear up for their state qualifying meet in a few weeks.
