Boys HS Team Rankings - Week 9
Edina over Wayzata in MN and the tale of two classes in WA
The Saucony Elite 50 refers to the top-50 teams in the country (25 boys and 25 girls).
US#19 Edina (MN) makes it into the rankings after they took out US#22 Wayzata (MN) 106 to 135 at the Nike Heartland Regional as both squads will make it to nationals.
US#5 Fayetteville-Manlius ran away with the Boys A state title in New York with a dominant 37 points. Northport narrowly beat Saratoga Springs in a tie-breaker with both teams scoring 61 points.
US#10 Hinsdale Central (IL) won big at the Illinois state championships with 99 points as York finished 5th. US#4 Gig Harbor rolled in Washington to win the 4A state title with 37 points after sweeping the top-3 places with a 15:23 average.
North Central moves up to #7 after winning in class 3A with 41 points and a faster team average than Gig Harbor of 15:16. US#25 Kamiakin was second over Nathan Hale 70 to 86.
Pembroke moves into the rankings for the first time at #17 after winning the D4 team title at the Eastern Mass state champs with just 39 points.
US#23 St. Xavier (KY) blew away the competition at the 3A Kentucky state meet to win with 53 points.
US#3 Arcadia and US#8 Brea Olinda dominated their respective league meets as well this weekend.
As the season rolls along we will surely see other teams rise up in a bid to become one of the nation's best.
