Bolt sidelined by foot until June
As the outdoor track season commences, do not expect to see Olympic and World Champion Usain Bolt competing until June. Agent Ricky Simms told the Agence France-Presse, Bolt has been sidelined with a foot injury, but expects to recover in time for the Ostrava Golden Spike meet in June.
Bolt is also committed to race at Paris (July 5) and Malmo (Aug. 5), but will add other dates to his 2014 campaign soon.
According to L’Equipe (French newspaper), Bolt was in Munich receiving medical attention and treatment on his foot. Simms said Bolt may return to training next week. Flotrack’s Gordon Mack is currently in Jamaica with other members of Bolt’s training group.
The injury comes after a summer in which Bolt captured gold medals in the men’s 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash and 4x100-meter relay for Jamaica at the 2013 IAAF World Championships in Moscow.
A few weeks later, Bolt told reporters that the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio De Janeiro would be his final season. He backtracked on that statement a few days later.
