Looks like she'll go in as a darkhorse ...

The results were on par with what I would've guessed (that was actually my prediction as well).  For me, it was tough putting her in the top 3 just because of how deep and talented the overall women's field is, and the fact that she still probably isn't quite firing all cylinders.  Although if anyone could defy the odds and overachieve, Goucher would definitely be the one to do it.

It was interesting reading the article about how disappointed she was with her 3rd place finish in 2009.  While most probably saw the race as a success (she was in contention until the last half-mile and lost by seconds), it was neat to see just how badly she wanted the win.  I don't think anyone wants it more.

With that being said, I don't know if she'll be in that kind of shape yet.  Although her recent 69 half in NY indicates her fitness is rounding into shape, it looks like most of you agree that it won't be quite good enough to give her a chance at victory just yet.

But who knows ... this darkhorse role could suit her well on Monday.
