Trying some new blogging in 2011
While I was at the USTFCCCA Coaches Convention I was talking with Queen's College coach Scott Simmons and Emory assistant coach Carl Leivers.  Carl, who we interviewed back in 2007, was the one who made the documentary "Five Thousand Meters" that followed a few US runners on their quest to the 2004 Olympic Trials.  Scott was talking to Carl about Carl's blog, which I found pretty interesting.  Carl takes a picture everyday throughout the year and writes about what was going on that day.  Pretty simple, but kind of cool.  I thought about all the places I've traveled to and people I've met in 2010 and it got me thinking...

On Twitter, I follow Erin Bedell who is a post-collegiate runner for McMillan Elite and graduate of Baylor.  As Erin says, she is "a professional runner with a passion for food."  She posts a daily blog of food she ate that date, either that she has cooked or gone out to eat.  The photos she posts will definitely get you hungry!

After seeing what Carl and Erin do with their blogs it go me a bit motivated to do the same and share on Flotrack.  Yesterday I posted a blog for New Years with the fireworks I picked up (which are legal outside of Austin city limits btw) and today I was checking out this house, which caused me to remember to get on this blog!

After wasting money on rent the past 4+ years I have been entertaining the idea of looking at some property in the Austin area.  Something nice within city limits is tough because it is real expensive as you could image.  I saw this one listing that was pretty reasonable in a good area so I got a little excited, but this listing how been out there for over a year.  That makes you raise the eyebrow and say "there's got to be something wrong with this place."  After my run with Pat this afternoon I drove by this house.  Since no one lives there I decided to look around and in the windows...and what do you know, there was a door that was open (hopefully I wasn't breaking and entering).

The house was old and would definitely need some work, but after a few steps in I really found out what that "something" was that seemed a bit off.
Yup, thats a tree in the house...
There was a TREE literally growning IN THE HOUSE!  Not only was it in the house, but it exited the house at three different points.  I couldn't help but LOL....who in their right mind would be their house around a tree and how would you go about getting approval for something like that??  Anyway, I don't know how realistic it would be to get something like this as it hurts to think how much you would have to spend to fix this mess.  But who knows, an indoor tire swing would be kinda cool...

I look to have fun posting more stuff on this blog so hopefully I'll remember to do this daily!  See you tomorrow!
