Donavan Brazier (Texas A&M)
If you followed along with the track and field world this weekend you would know that Texas A&M freshman Donavan Brazier ran a blistering U.S. junior indoor record of 1:45.93 in the 800m. The mark is No. 5 on the all-time NCAA indoor list and the first indoor sub-1:46 in the NCAA since 2001 (Not counting Edward Kemboi’s 1:45.98 from the 2014 Iowa State Classic on an oversized track).
His time is the fourth best world junior indoor EVER and the three men above him went on to become World Champions. Brazier was quoted after saying: “My coach is crazy, he wants us to go out in 51. I wasn't too nervous coming through in 51 at the 400 split since that is what we train for. I didn't think I was going to hang on that well. My last 800 was in Oregon, six months ago, so I was very eager to step on the track again for an 800.”
In November I said @DonavanBrazier was going to win NCAA Indoor and Outdoor I just want that on record

Teahna Daniels (Texas)
Daniels made her Longhorn debut one to remember this weekend by winning the Texas A&M Team Invitational 60m in 7.26. Her victory over teammate Morolake Akinosun is impressive when you consider Akinosun’s credentials (2x NCAA 100m runner-up). Daniels was the New Balance Nationals Indoor 60m and USATF Jr 100m Champion in 2015 so we knew she would be good, but the Longhorns team championship sights look even better with Daniels stepping up with the competition.

Lexi Weeks (Arkansas)
The Arkansas freshman pole vaulter won their home invitational in 4.50m (14’ 9”) for her Razorback debut. The mark is No. 1 in the NCAA right now and tops her previous PB and national high school record of 14’7.5” set outdoors in 2015. Could a freshman win the NCAA title in March? Top returner Megan Clark (Duke) also has a PB of 4.50m and Kaitlin Petrillose (Texas) jumped 4.60m in 2014 but has not come close to the mark since. In the same way Demi Payne and Sandi Morris exploded in 2015, Weeks certainly inserted herself in the conversation with an impressive collegiate debut.
Flo Performance
Raevyn Rogers (Oregon)
Running off-distances is common in January, but breaking 35-year-old collegiate records isn’t. Raevyn Rogers ran 1:26.34 in the 600m at the UW Preview to shatter the previous mark of 1:26.56 held by Delisa Walton-Floyd of Tennessee in 1981. Because of the Dempsey’s oversize track the mark will not count as the official NCAA record, but can we all agree that Rogers is in GREAT shape to win another title this winter?
Brannon Kidder (Penn State)
Penn State’s Brannon Kidder broke the NCAA record for the 1000m at the Nittany Lion Challenge in 2:18.26, bettering Rich Peters’ 2:18.55 from 2014. Robby Creese and Georgetown’s Joseph White finished second and third, finishing over 3 and nearly 5 seconds behind Kidder. Though we haven’t seen him in his signature race (800m) yet, this performance, combined with his mid-race 54 second quarter split, is quite telling of what Kidder has in store for the next couple of weeks.
Raven Saunders (Mississippi)
Mississippi’s Raven Saunders continues to roll over the competition in the women’s shot put. The 2015 NCAA Champion won the Kentucky Invitational with a new personal best throw of 18.67m. The NCAA all-time top 10 list is filled with performances by Tia Brooks (19.22m collegiate record) and Laura Gerraughty (19.15m) but Saunders new mark keeps her as the No. 4 performer.

Shawn Barber
World champion Shawn Barber cleared 6.00m in Reno at the Pole Vault Summit to join an exclusive club of men who have cleared the height. Barber broke his own Canadian record and moved to No. 5 on the all-time indoor list.

Bralon Taplin
The former Texas A&M stud ran 45.20 in the 400m for a new world lead and the first sub-46 second quarter mile of 2016, a new indoor PB for the former Aggie who represented Grenada in Beijing this summer. Video courtesy of GrenadaSports.
Sara Hall
In the place where her husband’s career shot straight to stardom, Sara Hall finished fifth, Top American, in the Aramco Houston Half Marathon Sunday in 70:07, a new PB. Hall, who will compete for a spot on the U.S. Olympic Marathon squad next month, set seven new personal best marks in 2015, including her previous half marathon PB of 70:49. Her marathon best of 2:31:14 is the 11th-fastest on the list of qualifiers, with seven of the women ranging between 2:27 and Hall’s 2:31.
Flo Prep
Tyrese Cooper (Miami, FL)
There are a lot of really fast high school freshman right now and it's only January 18. Everybody's favorite really fast eighth grader Tyrese Cooper made an immediate impact in his first season on the high school circuit by setting National Freshman Class Indoor Records in the 200m (21.54) and 400m (47.97) at the Arkanas High School Invitational. Though he didn't compete in the finals of either event, a battle is brewing between he and Brian Herron from Georgia, who previously set the freshman 400m record with his 48.76 three weeks ago.
Armand "Mondo" Duplantis (Lafayette, LA)
16-year-old "Mondo" Duplantis loves setting age group World records in the pole vault so much that he already owns the best marks for ages 7-, 8-, 9-, 10-, 11- and 12-year olds. The 16-year-old competed at the Reno Pole Vault Summit on Saturday and cleared 17'-6", breaking his own National Sophomore Class Indoor Record. He made several attempts at the 17'-10" record, but settled for the 17'-6" mark. Seeing that there is plenty of indoor season left, we think this reigning World Youth Champion has a pretty good chance of grabbing yet another World record.
Sammy Watson (Henrietta, NY)
Sammy Watson is the reigning World Youth Champion over 800m, so we weren't surprised to see her throw down a U.S. No. 1 600m mark of 1:31.38, but then she ran a nation leading 54.66 400m - ON THE SAME DAY! Does any other prep have this kind of range? Watson won the Dartmouth Relays Mile in 4:59 last weekend and holds a 800m PB of 2:03. We can't wait to see her in the NCAA.
