On Wednesday morning, a Go Fund Me page was created to help raise money for medical expenses for Luke Puskedra’s seven-month-old daughter Penelope. She was recently diagnosed with Neuroblastoma, a cancer found in the adrenal glands.

The news was initially shared by Olympic Marathon Trials qualifier Craig Leon on his Twitter profile, who linked to the fundraiser page created by family friend Dana Tucker Reber. As of Thursday 2:00 p.m. CT, a day after the page was created, $42,926 has been raised by family, friends and members of the running community with the hope of assisting the Puskedra family in this difficult time.

An update was added to the page 15 hours ago that reads,  “Penelope’s Neuroblastoma N-Myc is not amplified. This means that it is the lower risk Neuroblastoma that WILL respond to chemo therapy compared to the Neuroblastoma that is amplified and does not respond to treatment.”

If you feel inclined, please visit the Go Fund Me page to donate to Penelope’s medical fund.

An overhelming amount of support was shown in the fundraising efforts as well as social media channels by runners of all levels and affiliations. Here are just a few of the individuals who expressed support for the Puskedra family.
