Report: Nike-Berian Ruling Delayed For A Week
LetsRun is reporting that Judge Marco Hernandez needs another week to decide whether Nike can have a preliminary injunction barring Berian from competing in non-Nike apparel. That preliminary injunction would effectively force Berian to decide whether to compete at the Olympic Trials and Olympics (if he qualifies) in Nike shoes, or not compete at all, as the injunction would last the length of a lawsuit that would stretch until the fall.

Publicly available court documents indicate that the temporary restraining order has been dropped, meaning Berian is free to walk around in and tweet about whatever brand of shoes he cares to until next Wednesday. The first round of the men's 800m at the Olympic Trials is Friday, two days later.

Also, LetsRun's reporting has been invaluable tonight, but I can't resist pointing out that they initially called Judge Marco Hernandez "Jacob Hernandez." To their credit, they put the correction in the breaking news article.
