Maggie Ewen Smashes Her Own Collegiate Record In The Hammer Throw
Maggie Ewen of Arizona State set a new NCAA record in the hammer throw with a mark of 74.53m/244-6.
Reigning NCAA hammer throw champion Maggie Ewen of Arizona State broke her own collegiate record in the event todayβnot once, but three times. The senior's best mark of the series was 74.53m/244-6.
Ewen first broke Jenny Dahlgren's 10-year-old NCAA record at the national championships last year with a mark of 73.32m/240-7.

That Ewen broke the record is no surprise, as her personal best is actually 74.56m. She threw that for runner-up honors at the USATF Nationals, which did not count as a new collegiate record because the event is held after the conclusion of the NCAA season.
She was 21st at the IAAF World Championships last summer.
