to make the olympic team with only about 5-6 weeks of training due to the pulled hamstring is quite an accomplishment. walter has been accountable and spectacularly successful at florida state... it now seems obvious that his decision to stay in school has worked ....it took courage and intelligence to do it this way...two characteristics he has shown throughout his career at florida state....track and field as well as all athletics is a trecherous slippery slope if you are trying to be the best...as a former ncaa championship meet qualifier and competitor( 10th in decathlon 1970 drake u.) for the seminoles...back when we had a clay track...i was stunned and incredibly proud of walter this weekend...for making the olympic team of course but just grateful he found his way to florida state and has been such an inspiring and gentle giant...you really make us so happy and proud walter...good luck in the two walter

This guy is a class act. He fought through some tough injuries this year, and took a lot of heat for staying in school, but here he is making the Olympic Team and peaking when it counts. Congrats!
