Just checked back and it looks like they changed the rules above. When I posted my first comment, it said "Male Only" where it now says "Male (sub 4:05 mile), Female (sub 4:48 mile) *Difference between men's WR and women's WR is ~29 seconds. Women will be given a 29.43 second head start." I guess they heard us! |

It's wonderful that PUMA is sponsoring the Mile. BUT, BUT, BUT....having no women's mile (or better yet, a women's 1500m, as women do not have the same history with the mile as men), is truly a mistake! At all levels of track, from high school, to age group USATF, college, National USATF and finally international -IAAF, comparable events are held for both sexes.Women are able to compete. Read the rules above. Thanks, |

i think this is an awesome thing that puma is doing, but it really is sad that there is not an equal chance for women to get a contract too. there would be more fast women competing after college and in an event like this if there were more post-collegiate opportunities for women. look at the post-collegiate teams that do exist. they are primarily men. if more women had a chance, the competition would get better. this is just perpetuating the fact that women do not have as many opportunities post-collegiately as men do and hurting women's running in the u.s.Open your eyes and lean the truth. The reason more men run in "Post-Collegiate" groups is because of the lack of interest from the women to run after college. Most women don't and wont live the life of a runner! E-mail any group and ask them for yourself, they will tell you! PUMA MILE BABY!!! |

maybe the logical reason is that puma doesnt owe you a damn thing and it is just a blessing that they will be able to hold a mile race. I dont see many pole vaulters coming on here complaining about equal opportunities. I tell ya, american woman can be such female dogs at times! |

I just briefly read through all of this, so im not sure- does it say anywhere that you have to be a man to compete? whats not fair? if ann doesnt like it, maybe she should get in their and win in it! |

For the 2nd straight year, Puma holds a mens-only race. Last year the excuse was, the economy was tough and there wasn't enough money for prize money for a men's and women's race. What's the excuse now?Maybe you could make sestion of female athletes around 4:30 that are not sponsored or in college that could compete. If they see a field to be had maybe they will open it up. |

i looked at the US list trying to find the unattached guys. if we could get the top 12 from this group the race could be pretty sick so if you know any of these people tell them about this!Garrett Heath is with Saucony and Kyle Heath is with Nike |

I heard Liam Boylan-Pett is going to enter. If he wins PUMA should make a custom head band for him. |
