If you compare Eaton's marks with O'Brien's, you can see how important the 1000 really is, and was for Eaton in this case. After 6 events, O'brien was at 5792; Eaton was at 5542. That's a 250 point swing that Eaton was able to make up! If he was a mediocre distance runner there is no way he could have got that record. He's a true multi seeing as he can score so high in every single event, something pretty special we're all witnessing. Who knows what he'll score in the Decathlon, 8600 is pretty attainable for him. His PRs grade out at 8746!

Amazing performance from some one so young.

Anyone have Dan O'Briens marks for the old record performance?
I can't find the distances he ran/threw for his World Indoor Record, However, I did find his indoor personal bests many of which occurred during the same time he set the previous world record.

60 Metres 6.67 Toronto (SD) 13/03/1993
Long Jump 7.84 Toronto (SD) 13/03/1993
Shot Put 16.02 Toronto (SD) 13/03/1993
High Jump 2.13 Toronto (SD) 13/03/1993
60 Metres Hurdles 7.76 New York, NY 05/02/1999
Pole Vault 5.20 Toronto (SD) 14/03/1993
1000 Metres 2:57.96 Toronto (SD) 14/03/1993
These stats were pulled from the IAAF website. If you note the years all his prs were set around the same time he set the world indoor record save the 60 meter hurdles which he improved upon later in his career. It should be noted these are also all Indoor personal bests only.

Congrats Ashton. This young man is a class act. He is always thankful to his coaches and fellow competitors. I enjoyed hearing him thank the fellow multis who pushed him through the 1000.
