Watch 2011 Payton Jordan Invite race videos and results. The 2011 Payton Jordan should be an amazing track meet. Take a look at last year's great 10,000 meter American Record set by Chris Solinsky.

Race Video Chris Solinsky breaking the American Record at 10,000 meters (10K) at the 2010 Payton Jordan Invite at Stanford University. Solinsky ran a time of 26:59.60 to break the American Record by 13 seconds.
In this race the Canadian and Collegiate records were both broken also. Simon Bairu broke the Canadian 10k record by running a time of 27:23. Sam Chelanga of Liberty ran a time of 27:08 to break his own Collegiate Record by 20 seconds!

This race and the commentary that goes with it is an all time classic. I can never get tired of watching this

the best part of this race is the last 800 when the crowd realizes that sub 27 could happen...guys like Jager and other dudes swinging their arms windmill style cheering on Solinsky.
Such a sick race...get goosebumps every time I watch it.

This is by far, the single greatest commentary I have ever had the privilege to listen to.

I always found it amazing Ryan didn't know who 'fam' was in the race....especially after all their videos together

wow the announcing kept me intrigued/on the edge of my seat for an entire 10k... impressive

The best race I've seen by far. SO inspirational and the commentary was so awesome I get goosebumps the last 3 laps on. And @Living Vicariously is right, this is how running coverage should be and other running networks should be taking notes because it is a joke. And you don't have to witness and American record to get excited (2009 Florida High school 4x800 relay, WOW with Oklahoma State, and the 2009 Payton Jordan Invite in the 5k where another American Record was broken as well) are all just examples of what a great job these guys do. Keep it up!!!

After watching re-runs of Haile, Tergat, Kenenese Bekele, Usaine Bolt, etc etc etc (and Billy Mills) Now I stumble upon this GEM of a 10,000 USA Record, with "novice" announcers, and this ends up being as enjoyable as any of them. What a TREAT! Thanks for posting :-)

what do you think the people he was lapping were thinking?
probably "oh my god my legs hurt and i can't see straight" like every other runner who is competing at that distance and level....

how many times have I watched this???

This video is the finest piece of running coverage I have ever seen. Second would be the video of Webb's AR. If only Flotrack had complete intergalactic running media authority... Everything else is just a joke by comparison.

Whoever produces the NBC/Universal and other network running coverage should be forced to watch this as an example of what real, professional running coverage should look and sound like.
I agree, the coverage is phenomenal, and it's a great race. Fine work!

Best upset ever. I had to re watch this video to complete my Thanksgiving. That really inspires you to want to go out there and train all winter for outdoor season.

Solinsky is not the first white guy to break 27min. You forgot Salah Hissou from Morocco he ran (26:38.08) in 1996 !!! He's still the fastest white guy on the 10k.

Goosebumps! this video is still awesome, and will be awesome for years until he breaks his own record. But the commentary really does make this such a great video
