Dear hmmm...
Yeah if you actually read it...i think thats exactly what he means lol. Pretty clear to me, great racing tactics by Bethke. Did what he had to for the win.

So your saying that Bethke could have taken Heath out to lane 8 and you would still be fine with that...since Bethke didn't make "contact" with Heath?

To "impede" another runner requires actual contact with them--of which there was none in this case. Moving out one lane hardly made Heath run any substantial extra distance, and certainly the margin Bethke won by was far greater than any extra distance Heath had to run. Plus, it is not considering impeding since Bethke already had the lead. They were not side by side. And yes, anyone with a basic understanding of track would know that this happens all the time.

Bethke should have been dq'd. In the homestretch, he was in the inside of lane 1. When Heath was coming up to him, he moved into lane 2 to block him Surprised that nothing more came of this.
Hasay did the same thing at indoor nationals.
Is this no longer an illegal move?

Bethke had to move out to lane 2 just to make sure he held him off.

Too bad Heath's outstanding effort and mad finishing gear couldn't match the strength of the BEAR! Gotta give props to the guy who actually won the race...

Kick of the week for Heath, outstanding effort

AMAZING race. I found this the most enjoyable distance race of the night. What a finish. Gotta love the way E. Heath always finds a mad finishing gear.
