I'm a huge Lagat fan but Mo Farah is on fire and I think he might take worlds. He is on fire, I;m just really hoping Lagat can pull thru though |

Solinsky just needs to put Merga into the wall next time. Or better yet the steeple water pit. Obviously officials won't be able to say anything since they've been chronically ignoring Merga's antics all season. |

Outraged!!!!!!!

djost - You're right about Merga! He shoved Vincent Kiprop Chepkok in Lausanne from behind and Steve Cram for the BBC briefly commented on it during his analysis of the race. Chepkok got him back in the end though by out sprinting Merga in the final straight. Merga might be his friend/training partner but still, it was way over the top aggressive and should have been spotted by officials! Which begs the question - "Is anyone official really watching for this sort of thing at the Diamond League events?" What if he to pulls another stunt like that in London, Zurich or Daegh? He should be slammed right now for this and warned clearly that if it happens again, he's not welcome to race! Al Sal was right to pull away Rupp if that was the case. Rupp was probably pretty angry and if you make a big deal out of this, even if he's 100% in the right, bad blood immediately develops and tensions flair like we saw with Baala and Benabbad - How sad! But then again, Solinsky & Rupp should clearly state their thoughts on this manner and take a stand if it happens again! Runners like boxers, should be briefly reminded of the rules before the start of the race, even if it seems condescending. Then, if a pushing match does ensue and they get thrown out / disqualified for it , there's no room for argument! |

would love to hear Farah/Lagat/Rupp/Solinsky's thoughts on what happened during the race, regarding the shoving It looks like the track distance world has a bully in Imane Merga. If the Americans are going to take a stand once and for all in the 10K/5K events, they should start by calling out Merga. He's a talented runner but a punk, Rupp has already outsprinted him in the Birmingham 5K and Lagat beat him today. That should give them ground to call this punk out and take a stand. If Americans are going to compete in these events they can't appear weak in the face of the these kind of actions. I'm not suggesting a Medi Ballah type throwdown on the track.......well maybe Merga deserves that, but at least come out on an interview and tell him you won't stand for this behavior. He cost Solinsky another sub 13:00 and quite possibly more to Rupp. |
