Flotrack Best of 2011 - Most Insightful User Video of the Year

Crazy Kenyan workout showing a group working hard in the rain doing resistance drills with stretchy bands and pulling tires through the grass!! Group includes Olympic champ Asbel Kiprop. Tire pulls at about 20 mins into video. Thanks to Raimonds Kairis for this amazing behind the scenes on remote location video!

this training is common in kenya!!it wasnt the first time and its done in all weather as well.

Kiprop definitely needs a bigger jump rope

You may say that it looks easy, but the reason for this is their exceptional shape helps them to make it look easy.

it would have been harder to drag a tire if if wasn't raining and the ground was dry. just saying...

you will NEVER find american distance runners working this hard in those conditions. If we had to train in that much rain and that crappy of a field, it would not happen. Americans would either hit a treadmill or wait out the weather for better conditions. That is why we are behind the countries like Kenyan and Ethiopia. Yes, they have amazing builds for distance running and they grow up at high atltitudes, but working hard and being successful is a way of life for them. They know they are the best and they know in order to stay that way they they have to work the hardest. Big props to our Kenyan opponenets, its obvious why they are so dominant.

it is really hard workout, specially pulling rubber and lifting your knee while tied with a pol or tree, we see Abel does it for 1min and i have heard from close friend of Kenenisa Bekele, that he does it 5set of 7min none stop. it is very known workout in Ethiopia.

I hope I don't wake up tomorrow and see a bunch of collegiate runners strapping themselves to each other and running in place. This is kinda strange... must be some sort of resistance training.

This video proves that Kenyans really don't need to train. Or perhaps, they just want to see how many Americans start strapping themselves to trees and pulling tires around the track.

jump rope exercise remind me and what me and my mates do, koborsi benefitted most from jumping flat footed

To be honest this work out is very, very difficult and only a few can do it. It may seem a joke for some, but to understand how hard it is you better just attempt and do it.....then come here and comment your thoughts......

What I took away from this...Kenyans can't jump rope.

Anonymous Coward 6 months ago

to be honest i am pretty disappointed. they are just doing some exercises in the rain...

Well apparently the whole "Kenyan runners don't train in the rain" theory was a load of crock. If this isn't motivating then I don't know what else is.
