When Chris Derrick blasted a 60.0 last lap in the 5000 at the 2008 Arcadia Invitational, there was no question that the crowd had just witnessed something special. Joe Bosshard makes his season debut at the 2011 Pac-12 Cross Country Championships where he finished 9th place and helped his Colorado Buffalo team to their first conference title in four years. Bosshard ran the 8k course in 23:30 and was CU's third man.
Katie Flood Washington soph champion at Pac-12 XC Champs 2011
Katie Flood, the sophomore from the University of Washington, wins the women's 2011 Pac-12 Cross Country Championships in Arizona running the fast 6k course in 19:32 to beat Kathy Kroeger of Stanford and the returning champ Jordan Hasay of Oregon. This is Flood's first conference title of her career.
Jenn Bergman, Arizona's #1 before PAC-12
We check in with Arizona junior, Jennifer Bergman, to talk about how their team is looking heading into the 2011 PAC-12 Cross Country Championships. Last year Arizona lost the PAC-10 by only three points and look to be in contention for the title again this year. Bergman, who finished 7th a year ago, is looking to improve on her spot and her lead her title to the first ever PAC-12 title. Jenn was third in the 10,000 meters at the NCAA Outdoor Championships this past spring.
Lawi Lalang: Get to know XC's best newcomer
Part 1 or 2: Lawi Lalang, brother of 800 specialist Boaz Lalang came to the United States less than a year ago in December. Having only run a couple time trials in his hometown of Eldoret, Kenya, Lawi had PRs of around 3:55 for 1500, 8:15 for 3k and had only run one junior cross country race. Lawi talks to Flotrack about how he got started in running and what it was like to travel to the United States to attend University of Arizona. Lawi will look to win his first XC conference title this weekend at the Pac-12 XC Championships. Stay tune for part two of this interview tomorrow.

Lawi Lalang learning to compete quickly
Part 2 of 2: Lawi Lalang came to the United States having only run a couple time trials Kenya, but no real competitions. During his first organized season at the University of Arizona last indoor season Lawi ran sub-4 minutes in the mile and qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 3k. In outdoor track Lawi came into his own and challenged Sam Chelanga for the NCAA 5k title running 13:31 as a freshman and quickly become on of the best running in the NCAA. Lawi talks about this quick transition, his racing style and competitors in the NCAA he views as the toughest competitors.
