Chris Derrick nearly wins first title in 3k and ready to keep going NCAA Indoor Champs 2012
Chris Derrick almost shocked the NCAA distance world on Saturday evening with a near victory over possibly the best collegiate distance runner of all time in Lawi Lalang. Derrick finished less than .2 behind Lalang and less than a second off of the meet record held by Adam Goucher. This championship has shown us a new runner and has produced Derrick's two best races of his career. On to outdoors to get that first individual title!

Erik Van Ingen of Binghamton comes into the NCAA Indoor Championships ranked #3 in the mile, his highest ranking of his collegiate career. We talk about what it means to run at the NCAA Championships and ask if there is a way to beat collegiate record holder Miles Batty. Van Ingen has set indoor PRs this season of 3:56 in the Millrose Games' Mile and 7:56 in the 3k showing he's at his best. Van Ingen was 5th last year indoors in the mile and 6th outdoor in the 1500 at the NCAA Championships so he feels like "he's done it before."

The University of Washington won the women's DMR title making up a deficit in the mile anchor leg with the women who's been on the tear throughout the NCAA this season, Ms. Katie Flood! Flood took down all the big names- Infeld, Kesselring, D'Agostino and more. For all the UW ladies, it was their first national title of any kind.

Lawi does it again! It took a 13:35.1 to hold off Derrick It looked as if the NCAA Champ and 5k record holder might be broken, by one final move in the last lap and Lawi was gone.
Cas Loxsom hard look and adjustments after indoors at NCAA Indoors 2012
Cas Loxsom, one of the nation's best 800 meter runners and the fastest PR at the Indoor championships, had a tough weekend running 1:54 in the prelims of the 800. Loxsom walked away from the disappointment with the 4x400 to run with his teammates. He bounced back well splitting 46.04 and putting his team in great position to finish as the national runner up in the relay (Loxsom's split ranked 8th of 48 relay runners). Loxsom talks about this season, refocusing for outdoor and gives a message to the younger guys as he was learned big lessons the past few days.

Miles Batty after mile and giving it everything he had, part 2 at NCAA Indoor 2012
Miles Batty, the collegiate record holder, defeated after failing to defend his title. Last year Batty finished first in the mile and the DMR, this year he was third in both. Emily Infeld shocked after first national title in 3k at NCAA Indoors 2012
Emily Infeld of Georgetown wins her first NCAA title as she takes down one of the deepest 3k fields in recent history. Infeld used fuel from her fourth place finish in the DMR the night before to focus and formulate a game plan that would take down the competition. It worked and now she is ready to face the likes of Sheila Reid and more!
Ross Millington, NCAA 3k darkhorse?
Most years previous to 2012 a 7:49 guy like Ross Millington would be considered one of the favorites for an NCAA title, but this year things have gotten fast! Millington comes into the NCAA Indoor Championships ranked 5th in the midst of the who's who of collegiate distance running. We talk with Ross about coming to the US to pursue his passion and the ups & downs that have come with it.
