I am not a Alan Webb fan, but he could be recovering from an illness. Let's not put him out to pasture just yet. I haven't seen any interviews he done. We do not know what is going, lets hope he is well by the Olympic trials.

He did not do a workout afterwards...He did a lot of plyometrics and a few 100m strides but he didn't do anything outside of that.

Webb is done. he is not coming back to run in the Olympics. he should just change his running career into being a pacer, that way he can help the sport still and not have the expectations that he is not capable of meeting.

I would say no offense but in actuality I mean this pretty much in the most offensive way possible. Your 4:52 mile on your profile does no necessarily permit you to call Alan Webb, arguably one of the greatest American distance runners of all time, "pathetic" and "not a good runner". Considering your mile time would not get you a GIRLS state High school title in 40 of 50 states why don't you just keep your ignorant "pathetic" comments to yourself.

A lotta, of not all of these know it all armchair quarterbacks have never run anywhere near Webb's best.... Or probably nowhere near what Webb ran at this meet, but they are great at "running" their mouths behind a computer screen. Let's change the topic to "know it all runners" and let's take a look at their PRs! I bet my life that Mike Karal, the "man" who chooses to use the word "pathetic" has a PR nowhere near Webb's, and has no idea what it takes to be at that level. However, Koral is great at being a know it all that's great at spewing worthless, wannabe verbal/ written nonsense that doesn't do any good. It's the rantings of a "man" that finds comfort in bringing people down on their bad days, the people have achieved far more than he ever could in his wildest dreams. Yeah, keep on runnin your mouth, at least you are good at that, your def not as good of a runner as Webb, and you never will come close. Yeah, I'm sick of self righteous know it alls, can't ya tell!!!! Koral suggests in his great wisdom that nobody should care about Webb any more. Wow! Really?

@Michael Koral, calling Webb the biggest disappointment in American distance running is a little dramatic there bro. You sound like the typical mark 1 mod 0 fair weather fan who supports American distance running at its best and is overly critical at its worst.
Webb needs to run a 3:38 for a "B" standard and 3:35:50 for "A" If we use this poor performance (there is no doubt about that) as a baseline he needs to run 5.15 sec faster per qrt. For a guy this talented it's certainly not an impossibility. I think we all need to "Sa-lax" for the time being and see what his next meet brings.

whats sad is Robby Andrews isn't even getting a solid training partner working with Webb. Theres probably 2-3 HS kids in Virginia that could run these times

So I do not know if anyone else realizes this but the best miler this country has ever seen just did a double that probably would not get him a state High school title in 40 of 50 states. This is a joke everyone should really stop caring about this guy. He is really pathetic and is just not a good runner. He will go down as the biggest disappointment in the history of American Distance running. To think he has to run 20 SECONDS faster to run at the olympics really puts it into perspective, I do not care how bad of a day it was.
