WHAT???? 1 year ago

OK someone tell me how the national champ runs relays @Penn BUT not their individual race??? No wonder people keep saying Drake had better races because the weather ruined Penn!!! Well I bet Drake is glad I begged the coach to let the winner defend the title and went on the break the Drake record in 2011!!! HOLLAAAA! Coaches make decisions I will never understand!!!

@acevedokev check my twitter handle for the trackside finishes of usa vs world races

would of been terrible if Penn was doing the feed for St. Jago vs Long Beach Poly in 2007. I would've cried if we missed out on the call of the race.
I still watch that race because it was such a barn burner. The same can be said of the girls' 4x4's that Roosevelt won. Penn is definitely getting it wrong in regard to the broadcasting side of this meet. With all of the intelligence and high tech things they're doing now just so that you can get into the meet should be reason to want to step up their game with the live feed.

I feel the same way. The video feed was HORRIBLE. I was there on Friday and Saturday but wanted to watch it when I got home that evening (the distance races, etc.) and it was so slow and choppy that it wasn't worth my $5 and change. I loved it when Flotrack did it.

I'm OK with paying for coverage, but not this PPV crap Penn Relays is offering. It's awful. I want my money back. I'd be happy to pay for some decent video and commentary. The Penn Relays PPV offering is far less than decent. Just let Flotrack do it.

Flotrack isn't allowed to show any highlight of the USA vs World race. So I will post the video you saw earlier on my personal youtube page. I will post my twitter handle in a new post. From there check my twitter account and you will see the links to the vids.

Anyone wanting to see highlights of 10k Runnerspace has it.

So the video of the 4th leg that was posted this morning is no longer available? I wanted to show my son the video of Ryan Bailey finishing

More big interviews coming tonight

Jatin Narang 1 year ago

we were not allowed to take entire race videos because of Penn. More interviews will be posted soon!

Where is the video of the men's blue team 4X100.

Jatin Narang 1 year ago

Nope, no one was there for the 10K. We have Mary Cain's interview after her mile victory, but no race footage

Anything for the 10k?
I'm not sure, I wasn't there on Thursday so I uploaded everything I shot from Friday and Saturday. But the other guys who were there might have interviews from 10k

I will not pay to see these relays. Does this have anything to do with the scandal?

Anonymous Coward 1 year ago

The TV coverage also included the NBC commentators talking about how quiet and bored the crowd was and how some of the races didn't have any action. Why do these blowhards persist? They have sucked for over a decade. They are terrible for the sport. Why do they continue to be allowed to present the sport as a marginal snoozefest? Why doesn't USATF demand that NBC get the Flotrack guys behind the mic and actually get excited about the sport?

Cchelios 1 year ago

Of course, those two hours will contain about 15 minutes of track and field, 30 minutes of commercials, 30 minutes of hockey playoff and baseball highlights and 45 minutes of NFL draft highlights. SUX!!!!

NBC has coverage from 1 to 3pm today

NBC currently has limited coverage from 1 until 3pm.

The pay-per-view coverage is pathetic. They must be joking if they think they'll get my money more than once. It's fine to charge a little for coverage. It's NOT OK to charge for crappy coverage and lock everyone else out. This is bad for the meet in the long run. If Penn Relays knew what was good for them they would involve Flotrack in the coverage. Virtually all track coverage the does not involve Flotrack is worthless.

Jayess 1 year ago

Anyone who has video of Mary Cain's sick, sick 4:39 mile at Penn, please post it! And that 62.5 last lap might be just be the Kick of the Week.

This is why our sport needs more sponsorship opportunities. The Penn Relays is obviously a VERY expensive meet to run, so they decided they need to charge to view live streaming of the event, which they do have the right to so, to help cover the cost. This means Flotrack cannot stream for us, so we are left to Twitter updates from them. This isn't The Penn Relays or Flotrack's fault, it's the fault of our sports lack of attention and sponsorship. If the Relays were able to get a lot more money from sponsors, then they wouldn't feel the need to charge for live streaming of the meet. If the sponsorship money coming in could easily cover the cost of running the meet, then Flotrack could become the "eyes of Penn Relays" again.

Anyone else think it sucks that FloTrack is no longer the "eyes" of the Penn Relays. I cannot attend Thursday and Friday, but always appreciated seeing the heats on FloTrack in anticipation of watching the finals live.

also, this limits track fans and potential track fans from seeing the womens' and girls events.
Our sport has a small audience to begin with and doing this limits those of us that want to support Track & Field.
I know some will say, "oh just pay for it and shut up", but this is a big international event which should be seen for free as in the past for those of us in the States. Some parents and teenage athletes can't afford to watch their children and friends.
