Last year, the Lambskins finished 6th at NXN, this year with Senior Erin Hooker leading the charge, the girls are looking for a big day in Portland. The Workout is individually paced, 2x2.5mile loop, hard up the hills, easy on the flats.

Jake Leingang ready for championship season
Jake Leingang is entering his final two xc races of his high school career and could go out in a big way. After finishing 8th at NXN and 4th at Foot Locker in 2011 and running 8:51 in the spring, Leingang comes into the remaining meets as one of the favorites in both races. Jake will also be making the trip to the national championships with his team for the first time in his high school career.

For twenty-five years, American Fork High School in Utah didn't have a single state title in any boys' sport. Over the last four years, they have won three cross country titles. Top returner Brayden McLelland has risen to the role of team captain, but it hasn't been easy. McLelland talks about the pressure that comes from leading a top team and dealing with injuries. Both McLelland and American Fork High School have risen through the ranks in the last few years and look to continue their winning tradition.

With two California state titles in the last six years, Trabuco Hills is consistently a team in the hunt for championships. How does this southern California squad do it? One key is connection among all teammates. Head coach Liam Clemons establishes leaders among his seniors, and their job is to weave the freshman into the fabric of the team. Trabuco Hills is currently ranked 5th in California's Division 1 (large school).

Colorado's Fort Collins and Monarch friendly in-state rivalry
The Colorado team title is intense. Fort Collins won the girls's state title two years in a row, but Monarch won last year. Even though they're each other's main competition, they're close friends. The rivalry isn't traditional, but it does raise the competition in the state. Both Fort Collins and Monarch have learned a lot from their victories and losses and look to grow based on those results.
