Maverick Darling reflects on NCAAs and sets high expections in 2012
Maverick Darling was 13th at nationals in 2010, 45th in 2011, and wants a top five finish in 2012. When his race didn't go as planned last year, he almost dropped out of NCAA XC Nationals. But he toughed it out, finished, and took home a team title. The Badgers 2012 are a different squad with a different story. As a team leader, Darling has high goals for Wisconsin and believes they'll be ready to go when they're ready.
Reed Connor National Championship thoughts and not sure about redshirting
Reed Connor was a major part of last year's national championship team but this year he's not sure if he'll be contributing to a potential repeat. Reed ran this past weekend at the Wisconsin Invite and finished a strong 18th overall, but he ran unattached. Reed is unsure at this point whether he'll be redshirting or not so we will have to wait and see. Reed also talks about motivations and pressure of the team as they look to move forward through the season.

Coach Mick Byrne has had a long and storied career. He started running at Providence College, coached and taught at Iona College for 24 years, and then made the move to Madison in 2008. The jump from the MAAC to the Big 10 may have surprised Byrne, but he's carried the torch for the Badgers. How crazy is the Big 10? "Nuts."
