Staying patient has been difficult for Danny Tapia in his prior marathons. At Sunday's Cal International Marathon, however, Tapia managed to use the difficult weather conditions to help himself hold back in the earlier stages of the race. Tapia had enough left over the last 10k to claim his first major marathon victory in 2:16:30.

Congrats Danny! All of us at North Monterey County HS are proud of the skinny kid that couldn't break 10:00 for 2 miles in HS!! Your hard work and dedication are an inspiration to us all!!!
