In like a lion, out with a bang. The indoor season begins this weekend and rather than run rust busters, different events, and skip indoors all together, everyone is going for it right off the bat.

The fields have been set and the rabbits have their itinerary for the men's mile and the women's 3k.

The Nike Oregon Project Dream Mile, or the men's mile, will feature the two middle-distance specialists and one Olympic silver medalist from Salazar's group.

The self-proclaimed "best 800m pacer/rabbit in the world" Matt Scherer will tow the trio of Galen Rupp, Matt Centrowitz, and Dorian Ulrey through the half-mile in 1:55. From there, it's all fair game.

One of the members of The Project may be able to challenge the Dempsey Indoor mile record of 3:53. The University of Washington staff unofficially reported that there have been a total of 87 sub-4 miles run at the Dempsey. When will the oversized cathedral reach the century mark of sub-4s? It may very well be in 2013.

The women's 3k is mainly highlighed not by professionals or collegiates, but two high school elites. Mary Cain will make the trip across the U.S. to compete against Washington native and future UW athlete Katie Knight. Cain and Knight most recently went up against one another at Nike Cross Nationals where the pair finished second and third, respectively.

The rumor mill is once again churning as it's been reported that rabbit Lois Ricardi Keller is scheduled to take the field through the mile in 4:56. The girl's high school indoor 3k record of 9:17.4 (4:58 per mile pace) set by Melody Fairchild way back in '91 may be in jeopardy if everything goes according to plan.

Other highlights include Donn Cabral in the 800m and V-neck wearing, now Brooks sponsored Mark Wieczorek in the mile (sorry American Eagle, you missed out). Dathan Ritzenhein was initially accepted to run the men's 3k, but later scratched.
