Ashton is a younger sister (half-sister if I remember right) of University of Oregon phenom Amber Purvis. Amber has just graduated tallying up 2 NCAA Championship wins, 4 PAC-10 Championship wins, 5 Oregon school records, and is a 9-time All-American with the Ducks. Amber was a ground breaker for Oregon, making the school an attractive offer to young sprinters coming into NCAA. The Duck women are now working on their 4th NCAA Indoor T&F Championship season in a row, made possible in large part by Coach Bob Johnson and the influx of 60-400 Meter speed demons who have come to the Oregon program.

In 2010 Ashton Purvis became one of the fastest high school sprinters of all-time with her wind legal 11.17 and 22.90 double at the California State Meet. Her 100m time was only .03 off Marion Jones' high school national record of 11.14. Once she graduated Purvis went on to the University of Miami where see did not compete as a freshman. After that first year Purvis moved closer to home and attended Laney College, a junior college. Now Ashton is in College Station and a member of one of the strongest program's in the country. She talks about the adjustment at Texas A&M and goals for the season.
