Monaco may have been the last pre-London Diamond League meet but many middle distance Olympians took to the track for the Morton Games in Dublin, Ireland for final tuneup races before they head to the Olympic Village for the Opening Ceremonies.

Symmonds drops down

(Image of Sport)

The most anticipated race coming in was the men's 400 meters where Nick Symmonds was making his professional debut in the quarter-mile. The U.S. 800 meter champion finished in a time of 47.45 seconds, right around the 46 high-to-47 second range that many had predicted.

It's hard to tell exactly what the time means for Symmonds given the variables of a dead start in the open 400. Knowing his max quarter speed should give Symmonds confidence when he comes through halfway an 800 in 50 seconds knowing he has more left in the tank.

Results:
1. Gregan 45.61
2. Al Mirjabi 46.55
3. Murphy 46.63
4. Druce 47.43
5. Symmonds 47.45
6. Kervick 48.35
7. Kanonik 48.69
8. Maze 49.10
