FloTrack Beer Mile Open, Heat 4 - Legally blind Paralympian Chaz Davis wins!

WATCH: Legally blind runner wins beer mile

Legally blind runner and 2016 Rio Paralympic athlete Chaz Davis runs 6:33 for the win in his section of the beer mile. Chaz ran so fast that even his guide couldn't keep up. Chaz, 23, was a state champion runner in high school. About 4 years ago during his freshman year at the University of Hartford, Chaz was suddenly diagnosed with Leber's hereditary optic neuropathy (LHON), a genetic disease that causes vision loss in about 100 Americans each year. There is no know cure at this time. When he's not running or beer miling, Chaz uses a cane to walk around and can not make out any objects more than a few feet away from his eyes.
