"i heard that he sucks on the bike too, which is the longest and most important part of the triathlon"The bike leg isn't the most important part. When do you ever see Gomez or Brownlee win on the bike? It come down to a run race when your racing with the best in the world. However, I aggree with what you said here, "you know this guy has what it takes to make it big" Which ever sport he chooses. He is going to be very successful. |

I really wish Footlocker would allow the top ten individuals from NXN the opertunity to compete at footlocker. I would really like to have seen some of the top talent race again. That would allow Footlocker the chance to thrive as well as NXN instead of competing against itKudos to Nike for a great event in the NXN. Their name recognition and budget assures a great weekend that will no doubt continue. However there are plenty of us out there who believe that Footlocker is still the most prestigious event. I dont think we should dismiss the task Footlocker took on (after Kinney). Our sport was and is desperately in need of exposure and publicity. Footlocker stepped up when nobody else did. For years they were the standard bearers. I will always be greatful to Footlocker and will always be a patron because of their involvement in cross country. |

How are people even criticizing this kid? He is a LEGEND. He certainly doesn't lose in cross and on the track he's beating mid distance guys in the mile and could go sub 4 and that's not even his type of race. If this kid runs in the NCAA next year over 10k cross he is going to make some jaws drop. The only other thing he could do to prove himself would be running jr world xc but I dont see that happening. People are ridiculous how is there any way you could criticize what he's done? |

i hope he runs, i think hes better at it considering he got those long legs... i heard that he sucks on the bike too, which is the longest and most important part of the triathlon. Considering this guy ran the same time as galen rupp did in High School with a slowish first mile and a long celebration , you know this guy has what it takes to make it big. |

this conversation is absurd. Lukas did nothing wrong.Yeah, you're right. What's the big deal? He won, again. He knows it's a special accomplishment but he's got a ton of work to do to accomplish anything new now in running (if he doesn't jump to triathlons). Solinsky, Webb, Rupp, Lagat, and so on are getting faster every day and STILL below the Africans in terms of winning big races. American Distance running is getting better but our goals should be set a bit higher if we want medals |

Northeast...
I guess look at the tem nationals rather than footlocker nationals. Sure you're going to get better individuals out of the west midwest and south because there is much better weather for a longer period of the year. But i think when people refer to the Northeast as being the mecca of cross country, it refers to the teams. Because year in and year out the Northeast fields the strngest teams in the nation. FM making that sort of a lock having the guys finishing 2nd twice, third once, and the girls win their 5th straight. Saratoga NY girls have won and finished second a slew of times, Saratoga boys. |

Nothing wrong here.

So he wins NXN. He wins Footlocker. Thee two most talent filled races ever fielded in the united states and people are still here arguing that he had a tainted victory. Lucas raced Mousa, Gedeyon, Rosa etc etc... when they were all fresh, then came and raced the likes of Futsum, Orman etc etc while they were fresh, and still monkey stomped them after already racing a stacked field. In no way shape or form is he not the real national champion. |

It sounds like indoors is a pretty big focus of his, i wonder if it is more so than outdoors. He said sort of ending on a high note, and basing his running future off how he does this winter. Does anyone know if there are any major tri's he wants to focus on this spring? If so, we may not have another attempt at German's record from him.the way he ran this year in cross, we should be expecting big things from him in track. hopefully indoor because i want to see him take germans record in outdoor. |

I wasn't a big fan of Lukas walking across the finish line, but I think it crosses the line to judge this kid's motivation/intention. He may look back and decide that isn't the best way to handle a victory and then again he may have nothing wrong with it. It is just perspective people so lets keep that in mind! |

I am not denying that my boy L.V. here isn't obscenely fast. I'm just saying back in my day in a race you just ran as fast as you could, that's why its called a race. The point someone made about that being a practice in triathlons though is a good point. But anyway.I completely agree with you! The victory just seemed hollow without those other guys there in the race! L.V. is an amazing runner no doubt about it and I really hope he goes sub 4 this spring and takes on the two mile record but NXN and Footlocker are dividing the herd of top guys, any victory just doesn't feel quite complete. It might be a generational thing as well where "old schoolers" like the tradition and once singularity of Footlocker and now younger dudes like NXN? Also, I think there is a clear difference between "fist pumping" and walking across the line! The first action say's, "I'm the man, I did it, I'm the best!" whereas the later action, is actually a veiled insult to the other competitors meaning - " I'm so good I just don't even have to try here because the rest of you guys are so crap". It simply did not demonstrate good sportsmanship! |

Cross Training for the win!!! :Dexactly what I was thinking! maybe jack daniels can offer some commentary on lucas??? also, i thought the walk across the finish line was pretty sweet. hell, i would have liked to have seen him slap his bib number on the camera! it was no less arrogant than ryan hall fist pumping down the home stretch every time he wins. or alan webb doing that weird thing where he sticks his tongue out like jean simmons from kiss. |

How is it that you can't celebrate a win now days? He beat down the competition and his walk across the line was no big deal. I congratulate him on the outstanding doulbe of NXN and footlocker. |

(Pre's Ghost about 7 hours ago. That was one of the most arrogant finishes I have ever seen. In time he will regret that arrogance. I lost respect for him with that move....mommy and daddy need to chat with the boy. |

when the other runners were wondering how they could have improved their race by a few seconds, Lukas was out doing a long ride on his bike or swimming a couple miles. |

I agree. Lucas is the best but where Futsum tailed off maybe lutz or one of the others would have had a better race and pushed him more. I think the footlocker course would have been better suited for guys like Gedyan or Moussa. I love NXN but hate the course. The mud is a little much. |
