Intro video of the Brooks Beasts. Every Monday and Thursday through June 6th Flotrack will post a new video that goes into the lives of the Brooks Beasts. The Brooks Beasts formed last year when Brooks Running decided to invest more money into running and sign six female athletes that include, Amy Lia, Katie Follet, Fawn Dorr, Gabriella Anderson, Angela Bizzarri and Shayla Houlihan. These six ladies have formed a bond and call themselves the Brooks Beasts. Look out for them over the next few years as they try to make World and Olympic Teams for the USA.

. Shoe companies like Nike don't bother to develop athletes and only sign them after they are already multi-time national champions.
I hate to stick up for Nike but I question your statement. Adam and Sara Goucher both started working with Alberto Salazar at the main Nike compound later in their careers. The efficiency of Adam Gouchers running form improved after the change and Sara has been running her best since the move.

Some smaller companies cooperating like "Brooks Hanson" are great at developing runners, except you can't compare Brooks Hanson to team Nike.
That is like comparing the NY Yankees with the Toledo Mud Hens.

At first I was thinking of the Brooks Beast "combat boot" style training shoe.

Very cool - are you guys shooting with a canon 5d now?
All of the Brooks Beasts videos were shot with the Sony EX-1 in 720p, edited in Final Cut, and the graphics & trailer were made in Adobe After Effects.

I like what Brooks is trying to do sponsoring a group of up and coming girls. Shoe companies like Nike don't bother to develop athletes and only sign them after they are already multi-time national champions. This group seems to have a lot of talent with two girls that placed second and NCAAs and one national champ of their own. It will be interesting to see how they do heading into the Olympic year.
I predict at least one of them makes the Olympics between the 1500 and 5000 meters.
Also, Shayla's PR is equal to many sponsored female steeplechasers so people should settle down. I mean it shouldn't hurt her resume to have won the Drake Relays steeple title.

Can't wait... 1 year ago

I will not leave my computer until I see this on May 12th!!! Love the Brooks Beasts!!!

shayla has run 9:57, give her a break.

also, what's wrong with having a little fun with being a pro runner? i imagine it gets lonely out there without a team.

Shayla won at Drake, 35-50mph swirling winds, and did what needed to be done to win.

Correct 1 year ago

Just for the record, Shayla won the Drake Relays, with a 10:19, which would almost put her in the top 25 College women.

Simmer Down Seriously. Don't you see the
benefits? I admit it is a bit anoying. Like when
the Self proclaimed "Divas" hit the music world.
But give it a chance.

Seriously!!! 1 year ago

Which 'Beasts' have posted beastly PRs so far? Not sure about their credentials individually but 10+ in the steeple is a minute slower than the WR so is it that good?

Be nice 1 year ago

Be nice. Part of the Brooks Beast is about
marketing. This is good for our sport and great
for pro running.

Seriously??? 1 year ago

Before you call yourself a beast, you should be one. Houlihan just "won" the Penn Relays with a 10:16 Steeple time, not even in the TOP 20 Collegians!!!!
Katie and Angela are for real.

Meant to say "too" serious before the grammar police strike me down.

iamepicwin 1 year ago

Looking forward to it, that being said, the music choice seems a little to serious for the concept. Also, let's have a little self awareness, there is no way this is the "must see" video of the year, much less this hour. Maybe the last 5 minutes.
