Texas A&M's Henry Lelei blew the field away over the last kilometer to win the men's 5000 meters at the USC Trojan Invitational. His time of 13:50.03 will likely be good enough to qualify him for the NCAA Regionals. Lelei is coming off a ninth place finish at the NCAA Cross Country Championships and anchored his team to seventh place finish in the DMR at the NCAA Indoor Championships. Steve Murdock of the adidas Movin Shoes Club in San Diego was second in 13:59.30, the first sub-14 minute performance of his career. UCLA cross country coach Forest Braden competed unattached made a large charge into third place in a finishing time of 13:59.46.
