In terms of qualifying for the trials, ths race didn't mean much anyway considering the usatf does not use times adjusted for altitude in qualifying for the trials. All this was, was an attempt to get the crowd behind him and get some hype for the meet. He even said hes not a big fan of racing at altitude. I'm sure he'll go out to Oxy and go sub 3:40 and all you people can slob on his knob.....

From his comments it sounds like Batty didn't really care to much about breaking 4 but was just getting a time for regionals. He said he'll go for the A standard at Occidental. And he probably didn't run at Peyton Jordan because it was on a Sunday.

You must've never ran at altitude.

@Reality: in what way is an ncaa champion attempting a sub-4 mile in utah at altitude 'greatness' compared to competing for another ncaa championship or qualifying for the olympics?

sounds like it was windy.
whats the elevation for this track?

@ interesting pursuits - Seems like you have a mouth full of sour grapes. Nothing wrong with celebrating someone attempting greatness.

miles batty seems like a cool guy - good attitude. but..... meanwhile, in other parts of the USA, elite college athletes are running in races that actually matter. some even qualifying to compete in the olympic trials
