Coming into 2012 Ricky West had never broken 1:50.00. This year, however, the Canadian/Jamaican hybrid is on a roll, finishing runner-up at Big 12s to Edward Kemboi in a then personal best of 1:47.33. West's time on Friday, along with being a personal best, is the fastest 800 meter time coming out of the West region. West's immediate goals are for NCAAs but looking forward he is hoping to make a trip to London representing Jamaica in the 800m.
