Currently, the best American distance runner looked great at the US Champs completely running away from the field in Des Moines, IA. In Moscow, she led the field for the first couple miles, but couldn't quite hang with the stellar group of East Africans and one Japanese woman. Being "brutally honest" with herself, Flanagan knew she didn't have the turnover some of these ladies have, so she made a point to go for it from the gun and take the lead.
