2013 World XC Champs - Ben True's Strongest Moments

The World XC Championship is unlike any race you've ever run. The tough conditions, the quality of the field, and the prestige that comes with the competition makes it one of the toughest races in the running world. Ben True had been to World Cross before, but the 2013 race was different. This year, True would lead Team USA into the history books. After a quick opening 200m, True realized that he was on the tail end of the lead pack. Working with fellow American Chris Derrick, True began to set his position on the muddy course. Slowly, the race started to change. World Cross became a war of attrition and runners began coming back to the Saucony-sponsored athlete. With every athlete True passed, his confidence grew. Eventually, it dawned on him that there was something special happening in Bydgoszcz, Poland. The first surprise was when True realized that he finished sixth in the world. The second stunner was when the team scores were tallied and it was announced that Team USA had won its first team silver medal at the World XC Championships since 1984. "Even if it's on a subconscious level, if you don't feel like you belong at the top level, you're not going to be able to race at the top level," True says. Confidence, poise, and execution - that's what made Ben True's Saucony Strongest Moment. Put your strongest moment in the comments below. Sponsored by Saucony
